Strategic Planning Process
Strategic Planning for the College of Social Work
The College of Social Work is excited to embark on a strategic planning process to develop a stakeholder driven plan in close partnership with our College’s faculty, staff, students, leadership, and community partners. With the goal of producing an ambitious, yet achievable plan, we will prioritize strategies that will better our College and highlight our remarkable community.
As we progress through the planning process, we will routinely share updates to provide you with information about the status of the planning process. We invite you to return to this page regularly to stay updated on the process, and ways to get engaged.
Message from the Dean
On behalf of the College of Social Work, I am pleased to announce the launch of our latest strategic planning process.
Over the course of about seven months, we intend to foster cohesion around a shared vision for the College and our community. This process also offers an opportunity to ensure alignment with the broader goals and priorities of the University of Utah’s Impact 2030 strategic planning.
Building upon a legacy of behavioral health promotion, community partner collaborations, and innovative and interdisciplinary research, this effort aims to identify opportunities for improvement and further amplify our strengths as a College. Together, we intend to map out a strategic plan that will guide us toward an even greater, more impactful future.
In partnership with our consultants, the team at Emergent Method, we commit to a transparent, highly engaged planning process—one that utilizes collaborative governance and decision-making. We commit to seeking feedback from stakeholders of all backgrounds, and to actively listen to different viewpoints.
But we cannot do this without you.
At various points in this process, we may invite you to share your thoughts and experiences through surveys, focus groups, and/or interviews. Please respond to those opportunities, or visit our Get Involved page to share your feedback now.
As a member of our College of Social Work community, your input is valued, and your past and ongoing engagement with the College is critical to our future success. Thank you in advance for your thoughtful participation in our strategic planning process.
With optimism and gratitude,
Philip Osteen, PhD, MSW
Dean and Professor
