Mental Health Area of Focus Course Checklist

It is your responsibility to ensure that your degree and licensing requirements are met. Your academic advisor is available to help you. Please meet with the MSW advisor at least once per academic year to ensure you are on track.

Courses:

  • All courses will be held online. These courses are largely asynchronous; however, some courses may require a very limitied number of synchronous sessions that are facilitated via Zoom.
  • Practicum (fieldwork) is completed on other weekdays in your general geographic area. The majority of practicum placements are during normal business hours. Evening/weekend opportunities are likely to be unavailable.

Grades:

  • MSW students must earn a C+ or better in each of the required courses, including Practicum, to take the second course in any sequenced courses (e.g., Practice I and Practice II) and to move forward in the program.
  • MSW students must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA in order to be in good academic standing.

Area of Focus:

  • Students in the Three-Year Online Program will take courses in the Mental Health area of focus.
  • *Students in the Three-Year Online cohort must take Substance Use Practice I as their advanced practice course outside of the Mental Health area of focus. School Social Work is not an area of focus. School SW courses count as elective course credits, and only students admitted to the School Social Work career path may take these courses.

Reminders:

  • Students in the Three-Year Online Program must successfully complete a minimum of 60 credit hours to graduate.
  • Only courses offered within the Three-Year Online Program may be taken (290, 291).
  • Your advisor will send registration information ahead of each semester. Your seat in each course is reserved.
