Substance Use Disorder Treatment Training Certificate (SUDTTC) Admission Application
NOTE: Applicants should carefully read ALL instructions below before applying.
Policy
The Substance Use Disorder Treatment Training Certificate (SUDTTC) Program operates under a selective admissions policy, one that is committed to: (1) educating and training students for professional and ethical substance use disorder counselor practice; (2) maintaining a program of integrity and excellence; (3) assuring availability of quality field practicum placements; and (4) adhering to evidence-based practice. The SUDTTC Program reserves the right to admit a certain number of students each year. Meeting the minimum standards does not guarantee a student will be admitted into the program. Students who are denied admission may reapply during the next admission cycle and are encouraged to meet with an Academic Advisor.
Courses in the SUDTTC Program are restricted to students who have been admitted into the program. Students should meet with an Academic Advisor to create an academic plan that includes application to the SUDTTC Program.
Deadline for Program Admission
- March 15th 11:59 pm MST for Fall
- September 15th 11:59pm MST for Spring
Prerequisites
Associate or Bachelor's degree completed or in progress (SUDC), or Bachelor's degree completed or in progress (ASUDC). The following courses are required prerequisites for both tracks of the SUDTTC program:
- Human Behavior in the Social Environment or Lifespan Human Development
- General Psychology
Note: You may have completed equivalent versions of these courses at another institution. Check with a BSW academic advisor to ensure that the courses you took at a transfer institution will indeed satisfy prerequisites. Please also note that the above prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better. Preprequisites must be completed either prior to beginning the program or in the first semester.
Admissions Decisions
All applicants will be notified via email regarding their admissions decision about 8 weeks after the deadline.
Required Application Forms
SUDTTC Program applicants must fully complete two forms for program admission:
- Form 1: Request 2 Reference Forms from Professional References. It is crucial that you identify your professional references right away to provide
your recommenders enough time to complete these forms on your behalf before the application deadline. Use this form to notify your recommenders.
Identify and Request Professional References - Once you have selected your professional references, you are ready to begin the SUDC
application. You will be able to upload your transcripts, resume, and personal statement directly to the program application form. The form will time out after 20 minutes
of inactivity and does not save your information. You cannot revisit the form once you have submitted it, so
carefully review all requirements within the form, gather and complete all required
documents, and then submit everything at one time.
