Overview

This virtual lecture explores how “third places”—community spaces such as libraries, parks, and community centers—can be co-created as supportive, affirming environments for young people at the margins of society. Presented by Dr. Danielle Maude Littman, the talk draws on game-based inquiry and participatory research to examine how youth with experiences of housing instability can help reimagine these spaces. The session highlights the role of community settings in fostering belonging, support, and resources, and offers insights for social workers seeking inclusive, youth-centered approaches to practice and policy.
