Specialization

Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)

The Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst specialization provides students with foundational and applied training in behavioral and mental health, an area of critical workforce need locally and nationally. Drawing from educational psychology, students develop knowledge of major concepts, theoretical perspectives, historical trends, and evidence-based practices related to human development, learning, motivation, affect, self-regulation, and behavior. Students completing their BCaBA coursework will get hands-on experience applying the principles of behavior in real world experiences. Within Human and Health Services, this specialization emphasizes ethical practice, use of research, cultural responsiveness, and advocacy for underrepresented and underserved populations, preparing students to enter and sustain employment in behavioral and mental health settings.

By taking the coursework for the BCaBA, students will also receive the training that is required to get certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and work in the field while completing their undergraduate degree.
