Research Support Unit
The Research Support Unit (RSU) assists CSW faculty and students with the preparation, submission, and management of grant proposals and research contracts.
Pre-Award
- Reviews funding opportunities to assess eligibility.
- Initiates and manages the application process.
- Meets with researchers and research teams to:
- Provide guidance and instruction.
- Share checklists to ensure compliance with opportunity requirements.
- Assists with budget and budget justifications preparation and development.
- Supports the development of scopes of work.
- Reviews submission documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensures proposals comply with agency, federal, state, and university regulations.

Liaises with the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) for final proposal submission.
Post-Award
- Sets up awards.
- Assists with grant and contract implementation.
- Audits project activities to ensure alignment with grant or contract terms and conditions.
- Supports progress reporting.
- Audits finances to ensure alignment with the approved budget.
- Tracks and monitors funds and billing.
- Helps ensure compliance with agency, federal, state, and university regulations.
- Assists with closeout activities at the end of the award period.
